"Mental Health is often considered a puzzle. It is not one part of our being but many pieces balanced together. This is an abstracted representation of the balancing multi-layered system that is Mental Health.
The labor intensive process to create this work reflects the labor in sustaining one's mental health. The clay was made into multiple large slabs then allowed to dry in the sun. Once it became brittle it was dropped onto the concrete. This labor to build something only to have it shatter beyond recognition, is similar to how I felt when my anxiety was at it's worst point, unrecognizable and broken. There was no option to put it all back together in a large flat slab. The option was to create something beautiful and new. Life is a similar process. We must build with the pieces we are given despite the inequity. In the end, we are more than capable of creating something new and strong despite its fragmented structure."
