Meet Mariana. She's Afrolatina and studying to become an attorney. Because COVID shut down in-person classes, she decided to go back to her family's home in Puerto Rico and help out with her siblings. Plus, she misses the food! She embraces her roots, dedicated to fighting for the marginalized who often don't get a fair fight in court. Dismantling white supremacy and unjust systems is her calling.
She also values her free time and takes breaks to enjoy her hobbies like rollerskating, reading, and filling out her art journal. Listening to lofi and lighting up an incense just sets the mood. With all the chaos in the world, her room is her safe space to get away from it all and give back to herself. Here's to the downtime, where we rejuvenate our souls and love ourselves deeply. Here's to intentionally exploring our whole selves - including the pain, generational trauma, and insecurities while uplifting our gifts and passions. Here's to self-love as radical act of resistance. Here's to Black excellence and Black joy. I see ya'll and stand in solidarity. Submitted by Nadia Solis
